Why I Created the Soda Tracker
I love Mountain Dew. I like to say that it makes me a better person—I’m more awake and ready to go. However, I could never get into the taste of diet, and the amount of sugar and threat of diabetes made me only a casual drinker. That is until I tried the ZERO drinks. They nailed it.
ZERO sodas made me a soda drinker again. Now that I was buying soda, I noticed that grocery stores were always offering deals on them, like buy two get one free. However, the deals often switched back and forth from Pepsi to Coke products, and they weren’t always great deals. I basically got to the point where if I couldn’t get my Mountain Dew on BOGO or better I was drinking water, but on the contrary I’d stock up on a good deal.
Those deals were hard to predict and I don’t like looking through the coupon books, so I created a plan and asked Gemini via Antigravity IDE to create a page on my website that would stay up to date with the best place to buy soda and whether it was a good day to stock up or not. It took a little tweaking, but the ridiculous request was awesome. Another display of how capable AI is at coding and how non-developers might use AI to build personally inspired apps.
One more thing: I was inspired by single-serving sites. Maybe the internet can be fun again. LLM Coding + Cloudflare + GitHub make building fun personal stuff easy and doable.
